Five Affordable European Countries for International Students
If you dream of studying abroad, but worry about the costs, read on! Here are five affordable European countries for international students.
1. Germany
The rumors are true that tuition is generally free to international students at German universities. You will need to show that you have sufficient funds in euros to support yourself, and you’ll have limited access to those funds. If you speak German well you’ll have a wide range of options; if not, there are still several good options.
2. Bulgaria
Bulgaria is one of the least expensive countries in Europe! It has a handful of public and private universities offering programs in English and is known for its programs in medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and engineering. Living costs average around 625 USD/month. And since it’s an EU member state, your diploma will be recognized all throughout the EU without having to sit additional exams!
3. Czech Republic
The Czech Republic (also called Czechia) offers high-quality higher education options in a country known for being both affordable and safe. Bachelor’s Degrees in English can be well under USD 5000/year (and last 3 years instead of 4!).
4. Italy
The Italian higher educational system prides its equitability for scholarships (with some of the lowest fees in Europe), high quality programs and institutions, and safety. Italy has several options for continuing your higher education in English, with public universities maxing out at about 4800 USD/year in tuition.
5. Estonia
Despite its small size, Estonia has become Europe’s tech hot spot. But it doesn’t just offer opportunities for those interested in tech. There are more than 250 English-language programs in Estonia. The average monthly living cost, not including housing, for students is around USD 350-USD 600.
